Overview
A 4-day, 3-night climb of Mount Kenya using the Sirimon to Naro Moru route is a popular and scenic option for trekkers aiming to reach Point Lenana, the mountain’s third-highest peak. This traverse offers a diverse experience, with a gradual ascent on the drier Sirimon side and a faster, more direct descent on the Naro Moru route.
- Routes: You ascend via the Sirimon Route and descend via the Naro Moru Route.
- Starting Point: Sirimon Gate on the northwest side of the mountain, near Nanyuki.
- Ending Point: Naro Moru Gate on the western side of the mountain.
- Difficulty: This is a challenging trek that requires a good level of fitness due to the high altitude and long summit day. The ascent on Sirimon is generally considered more gentle, while the descent on Naro Moru is steeper and faster.
- Main Objective: Reaching Point Lenana (4,985 m / 16,355 ft), the highest point reachable by trekkers without technical climbing skills.
